Cleaning a bong is in no way the funnest thing to do. Especially for people who don’t regularly clean their pieces, since the dirtier it is the more likely you are to end up with residue sticking to your hands and sink’s surface. Anyone who’s tried to clean out a bong for the first time in months knows the struggle I’m talking about. To avoid that sort of sticky hassle, this article’s here to provide you with a couple clean water bong tips to avoid letting it get to that point in the first place. Usually people who want to keep their glass as clean as possible they’re likely to clean it after every session, or maybe after every second sesh. Not everyone has the time or motivation to do this, heck, I sure don’t, so try out these simple tricks to keep your bong cleaner for longer. You should definitely still give it a proper full body cleaning every couple months at least, but if you follow these suggestions your bong won’t be nearly as dirty by the time you do get around to cleaning it.
Lemon Water
Turn your piece into a lemon water bong by adding a few drops of pure lemon juice into it. This might sound weird, I know, I was skeptical too but if you only put a few drops the taste shouldn’t be noticeable. There’s no harm in putting too many drops but it will affect the flavor you get, and since every bong is shaped and sized differently it might just take you a bit of experimentation to find the perfect amount for your bong. The lemon juice traps a lot of the THC residues in the water and doesn’t allow it to cake all over the sides of the bong. I don’t have a chemistry degree so I can’t explain to you exactly how but give it a try and see for yourself.
Ash Catchers
For only 15 or 20 bucks you can buy an ash catcher attachment for your big ol’ water bong. These come in either male or female formats and all the conventional sizes. You might not always be able to find the perfect ash catcher in a head shop so take a look online for a way bigger selection. These things work wonders for keeping bong water clean. It’s a simple attachment that goes in between your bowl and the downstem. They often come with a percolator within them as well for some added smoke filtration, but the real golden feature is that it’s shaped in a way which literally catches any ash that passes through the bowl and prevents it from reaching the water in your bong.
